Mayor in corruption case to begin drywall construction training whilst in custody
Gergely Őrsi, mayor of Óbuda, has enrolled in a drywall construction course whilst in detention. He is to remain in pre-trial custody until at least 4 October.

According to 444, administrators of Gergely Őrsi, the mayor of Óbuda, published a message from the detainee politician: "The school year starts for me on 1 September too, I'm studying what I can and what I'll be able to use as a mayor: I'm starting a light-frame and drywall construction course."
Őrsi is being held in pre-trial custody as a suspect in the Óbuda corruption case, until at least 4 October. According to the charge, he accepted bribes from the owner of a company that carried out park maintenance work. The bribery money paid over 13 years is alleged to have exceeded 2 billion forints; several other politicians are also in pre-trial custody in the case.
According to the published message, Őrsi chose this training so that after his release he could replace the deteriorated benches at Széll Kálmán Square, if they have not been repaired by then. Some of the benches have been restored previously, but their current condition is unsatisfactory.
A judicial decision regarding the other suspects in the park maintenance case is still awaited.
