Győr Fidesz-linked influencer detained on suspicion of terrorism threats
István Szakács was taken into custody on Wednesday morning at six o'clock by seven police officers. The procedure was initiated over a video relating to the possible arrest of Viktor Orbán.
Influencer István Szakács detained on suspicion of threatening terrorist acts
According to the 24.hu correspondent in Győr, seven police officers appeared at the home of right-wing political influencer István Szakács on Wednesday morning at six o'clock. They conducted a house search and then took into custody the man who has 147,000 followers on Facebook. The suspicion is threatening terrorist acts.
The correspondent attempted to contact the influencer on Facebook; his wife answered the telephone and confirmed that he had been taken into custody. According to the woman, the measure was taken because of a video in which Szakács stated that if Viktor Orbán were taken away unlawfully, they would not let it pass unspoken.
"My husband did not commit a violent act. He merely gave voice to his outrage," wrote Szakács's wife on the influencer's Facebook page. She added: "For me, this is one of the most shocking images of present-day Hungary."
István Szakács is known in Győr public life as a Fidesz member.
