A customer punched an intoxicated man with his fist in a bar, who later died in hospital. According to the prosecutor, the victim's other medical conditions also played a role in his death.

In October 2024, such a serious altercation broke out at a hospitality venue that resulted in a person losing their life in hospital a week later – reported HVG.
According to the charge, the defendant was in the establishment in the afternoon when the injured party arrived in a heavily intoxicated state and behaved disruptively towards other patrons. The defendant first verbally asked him to leave, however the situation escalated, a scuffle ensued, and the defendant struck the man in the face, causing him to collapse unconscious.
Together with another person present in the room, the man lying on the ground was dragged out onto the terrace, left there, and given no assistance. The injured party lay motionless for an extended period until his daughter, who happened to be passing by, called the ambulance service, which took him to hospital.
Despite treatment at the healthcare facility, the injured man died a week later. However, according to the position of the Heves County Chief Prosecutor, the individual had serious, pre-existing medical conditions, and due to these, there would have been no chance of survival even with proper and rapid care.
The chief prosecutor filed an indictment for the crime of grievous bodily harm causing death. They recommend that if the defendant admits at the preparatory hearing that he committed the act, the court impose a two-year prison sentence on him, to be suspended for a period of three years. Those present who did not assist the man lying on the ground may also be held accountable: if they admit their guilt, a two-year probation order awaits them.
