Single blow with fatal consequences

According to a police.hu report, on 30 July 2026, paramedics transported a man to hospital near one of Kerekegyháza's hospitality establishments, who at the time was thought to have fallen while intoxicated and injured his head. The victim's condition gradually deteriorated, and on 6 August he died despite medical treatment.

Following notification from the hospital, police began investigating the circumstances. With the involvement of the local district constable, it quickly became clear: this was not an accident, but a criminal act.

The investigation revealed that a local man, following a prior verbal altercation, struck the victim once in the face with great force. As a result of the blow, the man fell backwards without any cushioning, his head struck the concrete, and he remained motionless on the ground.

Police initiated proceedings against the 48-year-old local resident, who was questioned as a suspect. Investigators are examining the events with the involvement of experts.
