Serial supermarket thefts: three suspects to face court in Kecskemét

According to a report on police.hu, investigators at Kecskemét Police Headquarters took three men into custody in the course of a single day in connection with a dozen theft cases.

The 27-year-old man from Szabadszállás had stolen from Kecskemét supermarkets and petrol stations on several occasions in recent months. On 1 October, he attempted to take alcoholic beverages from a shop, but the shop assistants noticed and notified the police. The man fled, but officers apprehended him and brought him in.

The 31-year-old Kecskemét resident was caught in the act whilst breaking into a DIY store: he climbed over the fence and smashed the shop's glass door with a flowerpot. Officers found him in the shop, where he was collecting electric tools with the intention of stealing them. At least four criminal proceedings for property offences are being conducted against him.

The third suspect, a 39-year-old local resident, attempted to smuggle alcohol out of a shopping centre: he removed the security tag and concealed the product in his clothing. The security service detained him. Previously, the same person had taken various tools from the same shop on multiple occasions.

All three men were taken into custody following questioning, and the authorities have initiated detention proceedings against them.
