The Central District Court of Buda has extended the detention of three defendants in the municipal bribery case.

The court has extended the detention of three people in the municipal corruption case, which affects several Budapest districts. The individuals remain in pre-trial detention until 4 October.
The decision affects Gergely Őrsi, current polgármester of District II, Zsolt Láng, former polgármester of District II, and Zsolt Molnár, former socialist parliamentary representative. The court has not yet issued a decision in the cases of the other defendants.
According to the investigating prosecutor, the owner of a company dealing with green space management made unlawful payments to municipal decision-makers over more than a decade. The total amount paid is alleged to reach two billion forints.
The suspicion centres on the entrepreneur making payments starting in District III, where a Fidesz deputy mayor received the unlawful sums. Later, the money reached other politicians, including Momentum representatives. In District II, a Fidesz polgármester first, and then a socialist polgármester, received regular payments from the company. A former parliamentary representative was paid to influence municipal politicians within his party.
However, the prosecutor's office released a former Fidesz deputy mayor from detention.
