Staff from the Central Hungarian Criminal Directorate have arrested a man who sold untaxed electronic cigarettes through his online shop and on social media. During house searches, investigators discovered a secret distillery operation.

The suspect had been in the investigators' sights for over a year. Together with his associates, he had accumulated large quantities of tobacco products without excise stamps at that time. Authorities seized the entire stock, but the group's leader did not abandon the business. He then began offering Elf Bar branded products and other vaping devices on online platforms.

Financial investigators raided again in June. They seized nearly five thousand illegal e-cigarettes and other evidence. The organised crime group's leader was placed in custody, and the court decided he would remain behind bars. According to the charge, the violation caused significant financial damage, for which up to eight years' imprisonment could be imposed.

During the raid, investigators also seized counterfeit clothing items, a substance suspected to be a narcotic, and an unlicensed distillery operating without permission. Criminal and excise duty proceedings are underway in the case.
