Irish marketing executive sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for murder of Mackenzie Michalski in Budapest
The Metropolitan Court on Thursday sentenced a 38-year-old Irish man to 14 years imprisonment, after he killed a 31-year-old American woman in Budapest in November 2024.

The Metropolitan Court on Thursday found guilty a 38-year-old Irish marketing executive who, according to 24.hu, killed the 31-year-old American Mackenzie Elizabeth Michalski on 4 November 2024 in a rented flat in the party district of Budapest during sexual intercourse. The court imposed a sentence of 14 years imprisonment, to be served in prison.
Under the sentence, the man will also be expelled from Hungary for a period of ten years. He cannot be released conditionally from the prison sentence – however, time spent in pre-trial detention since November 2024 will be credited towards the sentence.
The defendant listened to the verdict in shackles. In his reasoning, the judge detailed the circumstances of the criminal act.
