On the evening of 22 June, police patrols in Tolna stopped a car during a check on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, in which they found a white substance suspected of being drugs in a container in the passenger compartment – according to a report on Police.hu.

The driver behind the wheel admitted to transporting crystal, but only as a courier. The passenger, a thirty-seven-year-old resident of Tolna, however claimed that the powder was his own, and that he neither sold nor used it.

Investigators conducted a house search, questioned witnesses, and then treated the man as a suspect. It emerged that the authorities knew him from before: a judgment was handed down in recent days in a criminal organisation case closed five years ago, in which he was accused of misuse of new psychoactive substances. Another proceeding is also ongoing against him.

Neither his previous convictions nor the ongoing cases against him deterred him from trafficking in prohibited substances. After questioning, he was taken into custody, and the court ordered his continued detention. The Szekszárd Police Headquarters is continuing the investigation.
