Young man from Zalaegerszeg convicted for Islamic State loyalty oath – two years probation
An 18-year-old man from Zalaegerszeg has been sentenced to two years' probation after pledging allegiance to the Islamic State caliph via video call when he was 14 years old.

The Zalaegerszeg District Court has sentenced an 18-year-old man from Zalaegerszeg to two years' probation for having previously pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror organisation, according to 24.hu. The court ordered supervised probation for the young man and also restricted his internet use.
According to Virág Vándor, court spokeswoman, the defendant first made contact online at age 12 with a Pakistani man who was spreading propaganda for the Islamic State's jihadist unit, ISKP. Two years later, via video call, he swore an oath of allegiance to the organisation's caliph, thereby becoming a member of the terror organisation.
Following this, the young man also produced propaganda material: he compiled footage from previously released ISKP images, added Hungarian subtitles to religious and militant songs heard in the video, and sent it to his Pakistani acquaintance, who subsequently shared it on multiple internet platforms.
At age 15, he created a publicly accessible server on one social media platform, on which he promoted the Islamic faith. A few days later, he shared religious and militant songs in a chat room, and also uploaded a literal Hungarian translation of one of the Islamic State's propaganda publications to the server.
The district court found the defendant guilty of the continuous crime of incitement to war at a preparatory hearing on Monday. The young man admitted to his actions and waived his right to trial.
In accordance with the enforceable sentence, the young man must refrain from using social media platforms, internet chat applications and Islamist content, except for educational or employment purposes.
