Drug case in Kazincbarcika: driver attempted to flee
A vehicle inspection escalated into a dangerous car chase in Kazincbarcika recently in the evening. Patrol officers signalled a car driver to stop, but the person accelerated and attempted to evade police attention.
The uniformed officers immediately pursued, whilst simultaneously alerting colleagues. The fleeing driver was soon forced to brake, exited the vehicle, and attempted to disappear on foot. The chase proved short-lived: police apprehended him, and as he was unwilling to cooperate, they employed coercive measures.
The driver admitted he had no driving licence. He also revealed that he wanted to escape because he had previously taken substances. A minor girl was travelling in the car.
Upon thorough inspection of the vehicle, a white, crystalline substance resembling narcotics was discovered beneath the seat, and also a device used for consumption. Medical screening of the person at the wheel confirmed the presence of a banned substance, whilst a rapid test conducted on the minor at the police station produced a positive result.
Both occupants were questioned by the local police station as suspects on suspicion of the offence of drug possession. The minor's parent was also informed. Further expert opinions are being prepared in the case.
