Seven defendants in the Nagykáta forced labour case

According to hirstart.hu, the Pest County Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against seven people for human trafficking and forced labour, as well as other criminal offences.

According to the indictment, the perpetrators held a vulnerable man in captivity and forced him to work without pay in Nagykáta. The victim was fed only once a day, kept in a state of constant fear, and then coerced through threats into selling his home.

After his divorce, the victim purchased a property in Ercsi in August 2023 and lived alone when he came into contact with the accused. The proceeds from the sale of the property were also taken from him.

The man was eventually freed by police: during a site inspection related to another case, officers found the victim and rescued him from his vulnerable situation.

The Pest County Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against the seven defendants with the court for human trafficking and forced labour, as well as other criminal offences.
