Charges have been brought against a 37-year-old man from Monor who strangled his mother, then buried her body in front of the family house's front door and covered it with cement – according to a report by news portal 444.hu, citing an MTI statement.

The defendant lived in a shared household with the victim and his sister, who has mobility restrictions. The man was responsible for shopping, work around the house, and caring for his sister. The mother regularly drank alcohol and, when intoxicated, would frequently insult her son; conflicts between the two were constant.

The crime took place in the first month of 2024, when the sister was undergoing treatment. The woman consumed a significant quantity of alcohol in the morning and provoked an argument. During the exchange of words, the man blocked his mother's airway with his hand.

When his sister was brought back home, the defendant had already disposed of the body and filed a report about her disappearance. He subsequently removed the paving stones at the entrance, dug a hole, placed the victim inside, then covered the spot with concrete and paving again.

The police searched for the 70-year-old woman for twelve months. Local officers, working together with civilian volunteers, conducted searches, examined the surrounding area, and questioned witnesses, all without success. Due to suspicious circumstances, the son was questioned again, at which point he confessed to the deed. In early 2025 he was taken into custody.

The Budakörnyék District Court is handling the case.
