40-year-old fugitive from Győrtelek arrested in capital
Investigators from Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county have arrested a forty-year-old man who appeared on the authorities' list of fifty most wanted convicts. The man, from Győrtelek, was apprehended in Budapest in a property in District VIII.
The individual had previously been imprisoned for illegal drug trafficking. He was subsequently placed under judicial supervision, which meant he could only leave his home with permission. He violated this rule in early July when he removed the electronic monitoring device ordered by the court from his leg and disappeared.
The Mátészalka Police Headquarters immediately issued a nationwide wanted notice, and investigators quickly determined where the man was hiding. With the deployment of a target apprehension unit, officers carried out a raid on his hideout on Thursday morning.
Police questioned him on suspicion of escaping custody, then took him into custody and submitted a motion for his pre-trial detention.
