Man arrested for assaulting and coercing sexual abuse of minor cellmate
Miskolc District Court has ordered the pre-trial detention of a man accused of torturing and sexually assaulting a minor prisoner with the help of fellow inmates at a prison facility near Miskolc – according to HVG.
According to authorities, the suspect assaulted the young person with whom he shared a cell on multiple occasions daily in April. His intention was to force the victim into sexual contact with three other prisoners. After the young man refused, one evening the four inmates jointly assaulted him, rendered him unconscious, then bound him to the bed and three of them raped him in succession. The now-detained man, although not directly participating in the sexual assault, actively contributed to the commission of the crime.
In the prosecution's view, the act constitutes sexual assault against a victim under 18, committed with the participation of multiple perpetrators, on a single occasion, with knowledge of each other's actions. The court, taking into account the grave nature of the crime and the expected punishment, established the risk of flight and concealment. They also found it likely that the suspect could intimidate witnesses, influence participants in the proceedings, or jeopardise the evidence.
The man had previously committed crimes, and committed the offence currently under investigation while serving a final conviction for sentence in another case. The court ordered his detention until 13 August. Both the suspect and his defence lawyer appealed against the decision.
