Budapest police identify two men accused of harassment on Metro Line M3 – suspected violence against community
B. Attila voluntarily reported to police after the Budapest Police Headquarters released footage. His associate, C. Bence, was also questioned as a suspect.
Man accused of harassment on Metro Line M3 voluntarily reports to police
According to 24.hu, Budapest Police Headquarters has identified two men who, on the evening of 15 February, made derogatory remarks about the gender identity of three passengers on Metro Line M3, and then pulled the hair of one of the passengers. They only ceased their threatening behaviour when the passengers called the emergency line 112.
The Budapest Police Headquarters subsequently issued an appeal to identify the suspected perpetrators. Following the media coverage, 28-year-old B. Attila voluntarily reported to the Sixth District Police Headquarters and confirmed that he is recognisable in the footage.
Investigators from the Budapest Police Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department questioned B. Attila as a suspect on suspicion of the criminal offence of violence against a member of a community. During the investigation, his associate was also identified: 27-year-old C. Bence was likewise questioned on the same suspicion. Neither of them admitted to committing the crime.
Following the questioning, both men's residences were searched and the clothing they wore at the time of the offence was seized.
