Gödöllő arsonist posed public danger; investigating magistrate to decide

According to hvg.hu, a man with a history of multiple convictions doused and then set fire to a police car using an accelerant. The vehicle was parked in front of Gödöllő police station. The car was completely destroyed by fire.

According to a press release published by the Pest County Chief Prosecutor's Office on Friday, firefighters arrived at the scene in time, so the flames did not spread to neighbouring vehicles or the building – although there had been a direct threat of this occurring earlier.

The prosecutor's office sought the suspect's arrest on grounds of risk of flight, concealment, repetition of crime, and obstruction of evidence. The investigating magistrate is to decide the matter on Friday.

The authorities also released a photograph of the burnt-out vehicle.
