A 21-year-old English man beat a 43-year-old man unconscious on Friday evening on Jászai Mari square in Budapest. The suspect was questioned on suspicion of grievous bodily harm but was not taken into custody.

An intoxicated 21-year-old English man knocked a pedestrian to the ground on Friday evening in downtown Budapest with no apparent provocation – reported Index. Before this, the attacker had already chased three other people, then celebrated himself with his hand raised before selecting his victim, a 43-year-old man who was crossing at a zebra crossing.
According to RTL Híradó's Sunday evening report, RTL obtained the full footage, in which the circumstances preceding the attack can be traced. The person who recorded the footage – who has been driving a taxi for years – said he had never seen anything like it before.
The British man was eventually stopped by a cyclist, who according to RTL's information held a gun to him. A police officer on their day off also intervened immediately, and until the arriving officers arrived, security staff from a nearby entertainment venue held the attacker.
The victim was taken to hospital with minor head injuries; he regained consciousness in the ambulance and, according to witnesses, was in a confused state, unable to remember what happened to him.
The police questioned the British man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and he claimed he could not remember anything. He was ultimately not taken into custody: he may defend his case while free during the proceedings.
