A 53-year-old woman from Pécs and her 76-year-old mother planned in advance to kill the woman's husband using castor bean extract. The husband became suspicious and did not drink the poisoned coffee.

A middle-aged woman from Pécs, together with her mother, carried out a premeditated attack with the aim of killing the woman's 42-year-old husband, according to the Baranya county police.
According to the suspicion, the two women obtained a plant seed known as a deadly poison, then extracted its toxic active substance by soaking it in water. They mixed this liquid into the man's coffee. The victim, however, became suspicious and did not consume the drink, so serious health damage or death did not occur.
The husband filed a report in July 2025. The investigators gathered evidence that substantiated the suspicion against both women. The police questioned them as suspects, and after placing them in custody, initiated their detention, which the court ordered.
The police concluded the necessary procedural steps and forwarded the documents to the public prosecutor's office with a recommendation to bring charges.
