Cannabis farm hidden behind cabinet dismantled in Hercegszántó – four suspects
Police in Baja have dismantled a marijuana plantation operated by solar panels on a homestead in Hercegszántó. The four suspects in the case have been referred to the prosecution.
Hidden cannabis farm and drug network: result of Baja investigation
According to a report from police.hu, the Baja Police Headquarters has concluded its investigation into an extensive drug case and has forwarded the materials to the prosecution.
The investigation began in April last year, when a 42-year-old man from Baja came to the attention of police: he is suspected of having sold marijuana to multiple users over several months. The man was detained on 2 April, and 52 grammes of white powder, 7 grammes of plant material and 400,000 forints in cash were seized at his flat.
At the same time as the arrest, police conducted a raid on a homestead in Hercegszántó. In an outbuilding, they discovered a hidden room concealed behind a cabinet: the secret door did not conceal a fictional passageway, but rather a cannabis plantation operated by its own solar panel system. At the scene, 19 plants, more than one and a half kilogrammes of plant material suspected to be drugs, and further suspected drug materials were seized. A 33-year-old man living on the homestead is suspected of supplying the Baja dealer with marijuana.
During the investigation, additional individuals became involved in the case. A 47-year-old man not only regularly purchased marijuana, but is also suspected of selling amphetamine to the two other suspects. A search of his flat revealed 109.65 grammes of green plant material and 9 grammes of new psychoactive substance.
The fourth person involved in the case is also a 47-year-old man, identified as a returning customer.
The charges proposed are as follows: the 42-year-old man from Baja faces proceedings for drug trafficking and facilitating drug manufacture; the 33-year-old man from Hercegszántó and the 47-year-old man who sold amphetamine face charges for drug trafficking, whilst the fourth suspect may face court proceedings for drug possession.
