Court proceedings have been scheduled for September in the case of an entrepreneur who transported more than seven thousand tonnes of waste of Italian origin to Tamási without authorisation – according to a post by László Lóránt Keresztes, which was noted by Index.

The politician, who had previously filed a complaint, has now reported on a notification received from the court. According to the indictment, the defendant ordered the shipments in such a way that the conditions necessary for processing did not exist, and he had no intention of utilising the material. As a result of the filing, further transports were able to be prevented.

The material accumulated at the site has been fought over for the past eighteen months for removal. The man was supposed to have been sentenced last autumn for embezzlement and breach of waste management rules, but since then the proceedings have continued to be delayed: he has failed to appear at hearings, citing illness.

The post also mentioned Pécs, where an Italian-origin rubbish dump has also been standing for some time, which has repeatedly caught fire. The politician also filed a complaint here, as the arson cases endangered residents in the area. One perpetrator has already been sentenced to four years' imprisonment, but this did not put an end to the fire incidents.

According to Keresztes, organised groups operate in Italian-Hungarian waste trading, during which dangerous components are often mixed into shipments. He has passed on the data he has collected to the investigative authorities, and expects that the police will take more forceful action.
