Suspected terror threats: István Szakács released from custody in Győr

Győr Fidesz activist suspected of terror threats released to freedom
According to 24.hu's information, police took István Szakács, a well-known Fidesz propagandist from Győr, into custody on Wednesday morning at six o'clock on suspicion of threatening a terrorist act – the authorities allegedly initiated the measure because of a Facebook post. Szakács was released to freedom after the custody period.
After his release, Szakács thanked the supporters' solidarity in a video, specifically highlighting former prime minister Viktor Orbán, who assessed the arrest as "an escalation of autocracy". In the recording, Szakács himself repeated this formulation: "In 2026, Tisza's tyranny stepped up a level, and today the police dragged me away because of it."
In the video that triggered the case, Szakács issued a warning directed at Péter Magyar: he claimed that if Viktor Orbán were "taken away", five hundred thousand Hungarians would set out to free him, "from anywhere, no matter who stands against us".
According to press reports, Szakács is a member of Fidesz in Győr; in April 2023 he participated in a local party meeting alongside Csaba András Dézsi, the then mayor.
