Serial burglar caught in Kecele, case to go to prosecutor

A 28-year-old woman's case has been closed with a recommendation for prosecution by the Kiskőrös Police Headquarters. According to suspicion, she committed theft on eleven occasions in the Bács-Kiskun county town in the autumn of last year – announced Police.hu.

The reports came in to authorities in September 2024. The suspected perpetrator broke into houses and into vehicles left unlocked, from which she took valuables. Cash, jewellery, smartphones, headphones, trainers, winter coats and wristwatches were among the stolen goods. The damage was in some cases worth a few thousand forints, but in one victim's case amounted to half a million forints.

Police quickly identified the woman, who was questioned at the end of September. She was not taken into custody at that point. However, a few weeks later she broke into a property again, from which she stole money. The owner present in the house noticed her and held her until patrol officers arrived. She was then arrested and has been held in custody since.

During a house search, investigators found part of the previously stolen goods. The criminal investigation is closed, and the documents have been transferred to the prosecutor's office.
