A family home in a small town or village in Somogy county was burgled on 2 July. The burglars took a safe from the premises containing approximately 35 million forints and 25,000 euros. The Kaposvár Police Headquarters launched an investigation for theft, according to a report on Police.hu.
Following the report, the authorities acted swiftly. After gathering information, it quickly became clear who the perpetrator could be. According to the investigation, the victim's acquaintance, a man who had regularly helped the elderly woman with daily tasks, committed the robbery. After the crime, the man fled by car to a foreign country, leading authorities to issue an international arrest warrant against him.
Detectives later conducted a search of a yard, where they found the stolen safe. The money contained inside was intact; police seized it and returned it in full to its owner.
