Veszprém shop worker defrauded store using glass bottle receipts, causing 121,000 forint loss
A 52-year-old woman defrauded a Veszprém supermarket a total of 57 times in autumn 2024 using returned glass bottle receipts. According to the charge, the worker did not void the glass bottle receipts paid in cash that she had received from customers, but instead photographed them with her mobile telephone and scanned them into the till during her own purchases – writes VEOL.
The abuses caused the supermarket a loss of 121,509 forint. The fraud series lasted a week and ended in mid-November, when a security guard apprehended the woman. At that time she was attempting to conceal goods worth 90,735 forint in her bag – sweets, clothing – with security tags cut off – and cash. The attempted theft was fully reimbursed to cover the entire loss.
The Veszprém County Prosecutor's Office proposed in its indictment that proceedings without trial be initiated and a fine imposed on the perpetrator.
