A 25-year-old woman from Tolna has been charged after she fatally abused with particular cruelty her merely two-week-old infant in the Nagydorog area last August.

A 25-year-old woman from Tolna has been charged after she ended the life of her newborn son last summer. The tragedy occurred on 20 August 2025 in the outskirts of Nagydorog – according to a report by HVG.
According to the prosecution, the mother set out for a walk with the infant in a pushchair. When she reached a farm track beside a wooded area and cornfield at the edge of the town, the child began to cry. The woman took the baby out of the pushchair to calm it, but when this proved unsuccessful, she severely abused the boy. The infant died within a short time.
The accused then pushed the pushchair home and subsequently told police that someone had abducted the child. She claimed she had fallen ill, lost consciousness, and when she came to, the pushchair was empty.
The authorities found the two-week-old child's body that afternoon. According to forensic examination, death was caused by external trauma.
The woman, who had no prior criminal record, admitted to the act during the investigation. The public prosecutor's office has requested a prison sentence for qualified manslaughter from the Szekszárd Court, without the possibility of conditional release, as well as disqualification from public office. The prosecution has also initiated proceedings for the continuation of detention.
