The Tolna County Prosecutor's Office has brought charges of aggravated assault resulting in death against a 25-year-old woman who threw her newborn child to the ground.

The Tolna County Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against a 25-year-old woman currently in custody who killed her two-week-old child on 20 August last year – according to 24.hu.
According to the prosecutor's office, the defendant went for a walk with the baby after her partner had left for work, after nine o'clock in the morning, within the boundaries of Nagydorog. She pushed the pram onto a dirt road bordered by a wooded area and a maize field. There she removed the crying child in order to calm it down, but when this proved unsuccessful, she began to assault it. She threw the infant forcefully to the ground several times, and finally hurled it into the ground vegetation.
The baby suffered severe injuries throughout its body and died within minutes. The prosecutor's office emphasised that even immediate, specialist medical intervention would not have saved its life.
The woman subsequently pushed the empty pram back home, and then told police that someone had kidnapped her child. Officers found the baby's body around four-thirty in the afternoon that day.
The defendant, who had no criminal record, later admitted to the act. The prosecutor's office is seeking a prison sentence and disqualification from public office, excluding conditional release. The prosecutor's office has also requested that the woman remain in pre-trial detention.
