András Rózsa, mayor of Zugló, has issued a call to the prosecutor's office in which he asked the authorities to place a drug trafficker operating on Cserei Street in pre-trial detention. The district leader reported in a Wednesday social media post that police had carried out another operation at the building at Cserei Street 3, where they again apprehended the person who causes the most problems in the area.
However, according to the mayor's post, the prosecutor's office once again did not request the detention of the individual. "This means he will continue his criminal activities right where he left off," Rózsa stated.
According to the district leader, the police and the local authority are taking the necessary steps, but it is pointless if the traffickers are apprehended and not held in custody before the court phase, with the problem resurfacing again. Rózsa asked the prosecutor to reconsider their position and "finally propose the pre-trial detention of the criminal who makes the daily lives of people living here miserable. What else is needed for this to happen?"
According to an HVG article, the area around Cserei Street 3 has long been a public order problem zone in Zugló. Police regularly conduct inspections at this location.
