Police officer from Turin derby remains free from jail: judge prefers suspension
During the match between Torino and Juventus, a law enforcement officer wounded a supporter in the face using a canister containing tear gas. For this incident, the prosecution had requested that the Turin court apply a home detention order.
The judge supervising preliminary investigations rejected the request from the public prosecutor. Instead, he decided to remove the man from work for an entire year. The suspension from duties thus represents a measure alternative to the home detention requested by the prosecutors.
