Milan's Court of Assizes on Appeal has upheld the life sentence for Andrea Mostoni, the 43-year-old held responsible for the murder of his partner Vasilica Potincu, a 37-year-old of Romanian origin.

According to the findings of the trial proceedings, the crime dates back to 31 July 2023, when Mostoni allegedly killed the woman inside the apartment they shared in Viale Monza in Milan. The victim's body was found several days later, hidden in a wardrobe.

The investigation had led to Mostoni being identified as the principal suspect. The man was arrested a few days after the body was discovered.

In the first instance, Milan's Court of Assizes had already issued a life sentence, finding the elements of aggravated murder to be proven. The defence subsequently lodged an appeal, but the Court of Assizes on Appeal upheld the maximum sentence.

The sentence is now final, barring a possible appeal to the Court of Cassation.
