The victim suffered from various medical conditions and was being cared for at home by her daughter and the latter's husband, a man of 70 years.
The seventy-year-old is said to have suffocated his elderly mother-in-law by placing a plastic bag over her head. The act is said to have occurred after the woman had expressed a healthcare need. At the time of the incident, the two were alone in the house.
Carabinieri are conducting investigations to precisely reconstruct the dynamics of what happened. Public prosecutor Marco Brusegan attended the scene. The seventy-year-old is being arrested and, according to investigators' expectations, will be transferred to prison.
