Google News IT — Crime (it) reports that the State Police of Bologna arrested two people in flagrante delicto following a theft targeting an elderly woman that occurred inside a supermarket in the Imola area.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the security officer at the retail point had noticed a man and a woman moving between the aisles with suspicious behaviour, and had kept them under observation whilst they attempted to rifle through the handbags of elderly customers shopping.
Upon the arrival of officers from the Imola Public Safety Police Station, the security guard identified the two as responsible for a theft that had just been committed. The woman had stolen the wallet from the handbag of an elderly customer, withdrawing 130 euros in cash, before passing the wallet to her accomplice.
During the personal search, the money was found in the woman's possession, whilst the wallet was in the possession of the man. Officers also viewed images from the supermarket's video surveillance system, which were subsequently made available to the judicial authorities.
The two arrested individuals are a Peruvian citizen born in 1992 and a Cuban citizen born in 2003. Both have previous convictions for crimes against property. They were detained for aggravated theft in concert and taken to the offices of the Imola Police Station.
At the conclusion of the operation, the wallet was returned to the victim. The two were also placed at the disposal of the Immigration Office for checks on their legal status within the national territory.
