41-year-old Catania man arrested: escapes house arrest to install swimming pool on condominium terrace

A 41-year-old man, already known to law enforcement for several criminal records, has been arrested again in Catania. The man, subject to the precautionary measure of house arrest with an electronic ankle bracelet in the Villaggio Zia Lisa II neighbourhood, was found on the terrace of the building where he lives whilst assembling an inflatable swimming pool.

The intervention by officers from the flying squad was triggered when the monitoring system in the Operations Room detected an alarm for the electronic device. Upon arriving at the man's residence and not finding him inside, police officers searched the common areas of the condominium, locating him on the terrace.

Upon their arrival, the 41-year-old, visibly tired from the installation work, justified his absence by stating that he wanted to prepare himself to better withstand the hot summer weather of the city.

From checks carried out through the Police databases, it emerged that this was yet another escape committed by the man, who had been placed under house arrest for a series of crimes against property.

After being informed, the duty public prosecutor ordered the renewed house arrest of the 41-year-old.
