Major cocaine seizure in car park in provincial capital

A man was arrested in the afternoon of yesterday in Frosinone by officers of the Mobile Squad during a service aimed at combating the trafficking of narcotic substances. This is reported by Google News IT — Crime (it), which cites the official statement from the Frosinone Police Headquarters.

The police officers noticed the man moving about with suspicious behaviour in a car park located in the lower part of the provincial capital, repeatedly moving between two parked vehicles in the immediate vicinity.

The checks carried out at the time made it possible to establish that both vehicles were registered in the name of the same person, already known to law enforcement for previous police records. At that point the officers proceeded with the identification and search of the man.

The inspection led to the discovery of three packets of cocaine for a total weight of 3,169.1 grammes, together with banknotes for a value of 2,780 euros, believed to be presumed proceeds of the unlawful activity. Two of the three packets were contained in a bag that the man was carrying; the third was hidden in the boot of one of the two cars, concealed inside a false compartment specifically created for that purpose. In the other vehicle, instead, a wallet containing the cash was found.

At the conclusion of operations, the arrested man was taken to prison.

Also during the afternoon of yesterday, officers of the Patrol Units administratively contested to a second man the possession for personal use of crack cocaine, with a gross weight of 0.80 grammes.

The Police Headquarters specified that the suspected person is currently to be considered only a suspect and that his position will be definitively evaluated in court proceedings, in compliance with the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence.

The Police Headquarters emphasised that the services for prevention and combating trafficking will continue in the coming days, with particular attention to sensitive areas of the city.
