Illegal arrests in Corsico: local police officers all under house arrest

As reported by Google News IT — Crime (it), Milan's Appeals Court ordered on Tuesday 25 August house arrest for Denni Dileo and Rosario Piscopo, the last two local police officers still in prison following their arrest on 6 August. The charges against them are embezzlement, unlawful arrest and falsifying documents.
The hearing took place on Tuesday morning. The lawyers for the two officers argued they had demonstrated the absence of the embezzlement charge, contesting in particular that the 1,450 euros seized during an operation in Corsico would never have been appropriated by the suspects.
Previously, the Appeals Court had already granted house arrest to Vincenzo Compagnone and Mattia Riganese. Divisional superintendent Ilenja Sabato had obtained the same measure following questioning before the judge for preliminary investigations.
At the centre of the inquiry is an operation on 16 July: the squad, acting on a report from a confidential source, arrested a suspected drug dealer in Corsico who was found with half a kilogramme of hashish and 1,450 euros in cash. The arrested person stated that the money had been seized from him, but no trace of the sum appeared in the report drawn up by the officers. This discrepancy prompted the investigation.
