Arrests for drug dealing in Salerno: mother and son ran a drug market at Sant'Eustachio
The State Police arrested a 41-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son in Salerno for possession and trafficking of cocaine, crack and marijuana. 300 doses, €4,800 and ammunition were seized.
Drug dealing in condominium at Sant'Eustachio: two arrests in Salerno
According to reports from questure.poliziadistato.it, in the afternoon of 18 May, the State Police arrested a 41-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son in the Sant'Eustachio district of Salerno, on suspicion of possession for purposes of trafficking in narcotic substances in concert. The operation was conducted by officers from the Mobile Squad, supported by personnel from the local UPGSP and a canine unit from the Naples Police Headquarters.
The investigation was initiated by several reports from citizens submitted to the Police Headquarters via the "Youpol" application, which indicated a condominium on Via Martiri di Belfiore as a retail drug dealing point, characterised by a substantial flow of buyers.
During surveillance operations, officers established the presence of cameras illegally installed outside the ground-floor apartment of the condominium, corresponding to the woman's residence. The cameras were directed towards the drug dealing locations with the clear purpose of monitoring any potential police interventions.
The subsequent search of the residence and a basement of the building — the latter fitted out as a laboratory for converting cocaine into crack — made it possible to find and seize approximately 300 packages of crack and cocaine ready for sale, another 6.8 grams of cocaine, 2.4 grams of marijuana, material for processing and packaging the substances, handwritten notes relating to the drug dealing activity, five .380 calibre rounds of ammunition and €4,800 in cash, believed to be proceeds of the criminal activity.
Following completion of the required formalities, both arrested individuals were transferred to Salerno prison, pending the judicial authority's disposal ahead of the validation hearing.
