The Mobile Squad of Salerno has arrested a sixteen-year-old Albanian and a seventeen-year-old Italian for a series of robberies at petrol stations and shops.

A sixteen-year-old boy, an Albanian citizen, and a seventeen-year-old counterpart, Italian, have been arrested in Salerno. The Mobile Squad executed an order from the Investigating Judge of the Court for Minors, on the proposal of the local Public Prosecutor. The two are considered active members of a group specialised in thefts and robberies.
Criminal activity was concentrated mainly in the province of Salerno, with particular attention to the area of the Nocerino-Sarnese agricultural region, and to a lesser extent in Neapolitan territory. The first reports date back to March, when a series of assaults on petrol stations attracted the attention of investigators. The perpetrators of the attacks operated with covered faces, armed, using vehicles previously stolen.
The investigations revealed a well-organised system. In addition to stolen vehicles, the group used rental cars, defined as "clean", which served as support. These vehicles made it possible to pick up the members of the organisation at the end of each operation, minimising the possibility of them being traceable to the crimes.
Through cross-examination of recordings and investigative materials, officers succeeded in linking the organisation to 25 aggravated robberies involving the use of weapons, 5 aggravated thefts of motor vehicles and 20 cases of receiving stolen goods. The two adolescents were found to have taken part in 17 robberies, 3 thefts and 3 cases of receiving stolen goods.
Among the most significant episodes stands out the attack on a mobile phone shop in Angri, where the haul amounted to approximately 30,000 euros in equipment. The intensity of the criminal activity became clear: on a single day in March, five assaults were perpetrated.
Investigators aimed to interrupt the criminal spiral immediately, intensifying controls in the territory. On 3 April, the Judicial Police prevented the carrying out of another robbery, intervening whilst members of the group, already masked and aboard a stolen vehicle, were about to strike.
After completion of the procedures, the Albanian minor was taken to the IPM of Airola, the Italian one to Nisida. The measure can be appealed and the accusations will have to be examined in the appropriate judicial forums.
