Six men aged between 26 and 39 have come under investigation by authorities in Trani for a series of offences ranging from burglary to drug dealing in the Apulian centre.

Officers from Barletta Police Station have carried out an operation as part of an investigation coordinated by the Trani Public Prosecutor's Office. At dawn on 8 July 2026, precautionary measures were imposed on six individuals, all male, aged between twenty-six and thirty-nine years. The charges brought by the deputy prosecutor concern unlawful entry into other people's homes, an attempted similar offence, and drug trafficking in the main city of the Barletta-Andria-Trani province.
For four of those detained, the investigating judge ordered house arrest. The other two will instead have to present themselves regularly at police offices. The investigation originated from several break-ins at residential properties in the city: an inquiry which, initially, appeared limited to conventional crimes against property.
The turning point came when investigators recovered a mobile phone abandoned near one of the crime scenes. Analysis of the device opened up a different scenario: messages, movements and connections between the various group members revealed cocaine dealing activity managed across the territory.
During the course of the investigation, several transfers of the substance emerged, carried out using agreed codes and rapid deliveries at various points in the city. The accusatory picture describes a network in which each participant is said to have carried out a specific role, both in the field and in the organisation.
The restrictive measure takes into account the reiteration of unlawful conduct and the multiplicity of established facts. The intervention by law enforcement underlines constant commitment against predatory crimes and drug trafficking, phenomena that undermine perceived safety and quality of life in residential areas.
