Drug bazaar dismantled in Montecchio Precalcino: 22-year-old jailed
Google News IT — Crime (it) reports that officers from the Nordest Vicentino local police consortium have broken up a drug trafficking operation in Montecchio Precalcino, seizing a total of seven kilograms of drugs comprising cocaine, hashish and marijuana. The operation concluded with the arrest of a 22-year-old.
The young man had already been stopped in December, when he was found in possession of more than five kilograms of hashish. Investigations had never ceased: constant monitoring of the young man's residence had revealed continuous foot traffic, a circumstance which led investigators to believe that drug trafficking activity had resumed.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, 25 August, the 22-year-old was stopped by officers while driving a car at the border between Villaverla and Montecchio Precalcino. It emerged that the man was without a driving licence, having never obtained one. The subsequent search of the residence led to the discovery of 59 blocks of hashish weighing more than six kilograms, 98 packages of marijuana totalling one kilogram and 80 grammes of cocaine. Scales and packaging materials were also found.
According to local police estimates, the sale of the entire quantity of drugs could have generated proceeds of no less than 80,000 euros.
Following the operations, the 22-year-old was taken to Vicenza prison. A fine of 5,000 euros was also issued against him for driving without a licence.
