A carabinieri operation led to the arrest of two individuals in Policoro, in the Matese area. The military personnel raided a shed where the two were located and found a considerable quantity of drugs and an assault rifle.
The arrested men are a 41-year-old with a police record and a 48-year-old with no criminal history. Inside the shed were hidden more than five kilogrammes of cocaine and approximately one kilogramme and three hundred grammes of hashish. Equipment for cutting and packaging the substance into doses was also present. The estimated value of the narcotics on the illegal market exceeds five hundred thousand euros.
Among the items seized was a fully functioning Kalashnikov, loaded and ready for use, with two magazines and sixty-four rounds.
The magistrate validated the detention and the two were taken to Matera penitentiary.
