Joint operation between Italy and Croatia: arrests and precautionary measures
The State Police conducted a vast operation between Italy and the Zagreb district in Croatia, according to ANSA Cronaca. Italian investigators, with support from Croatian law enforcement, are executing a precautionary order issued by the judge for preliminary investigation in Salerno upon request from the Salerno District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
The offences charged, on various counts, include association aimed at trafficking in narcotic substances, attempted murder, extortion, importation of war weapons, carrying and illegal possession of weapons, personal injury and private violence. The charges are aggravated by the mafia method. Also included are unauthorised access to communication devices by detainees and aiding illegal immigration.
The investigation was conducted by the Salerno SISCO and the Central Operational Service, under the direction of the Salerno DDA, with the contribution of the National Anti-Mafia and Counter-Terrorism Directorate and Eurojust. The latter, according to an official statement, ensured a "fruitful investigative exchange with the Croatian special prosecutor (Uskok - Office for combating corruption and organised crime)".
