Casalesi clan boss arrested in Gricignano: attempted murder and intimidation

Detention of Casalesi boss: gunfire at mayor's fuel distributor and attempted murder

Carabinieri in Caserta, coordinated by the District Organised Crime Prosecution with deputy prosecutor Michele Del Prete, detained Andrea Autiero, 65, a prominent member of the Russo-Schiavone faction of the Casalesi clan, according to ansa.it.

Autiero had for years been the representative of the mafia federation in Gricignano di Aversa. He had returned to freedom after more than twenty years in detention, part of which spent under Article 41bis regime.

The charges against him concern the organisation of a contract killing against a woman — which was not carried out — and two serious intimidation acts committed in Gricignano. Among these, gunfire against the mayor's fuel distributor and against a tobacconist shop in the same Caserta locality.

During the operation, four other people were detained. During searches, military personnel seized 9,000 euros in cash and a cheque for one thousand euros.

Autiero, represented by lawyer Cristina Mottola, was transferred to Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
