Drug cache in nightlife zone, three arrested in Cagliari
More than seven kilograms of narcotics seized and three people arrested in the Stampace district in central Cagliari. According to unionesarda.it, the Falchi of the Mobile Squad identified what they believe to be a cache supplied to fuel drug dealing in the city's nightlife establishments.
Officers raided an apartment on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, a short distance from Largo Carlo Felice and Piazza Yenne. Concealed inside several holdalls, they found approximately four kilograms of marijuana, three kilograms of hashish and nearly 40 grammes of cocaine.
The three arrested are Simone Mellano, 32 years old, Marcello Congiu, 51 years old, and Denise Serri, 24 years old. All three are now being held in Uta prison on charges of possession with intent to supply.
The operation was launched following a report received at Police Headquarters via the YouPol app, which identified one of the three suspects as active in drug dealing in the city centre. Investigators therefore initiated a surveillance operation on the building, located between a laundromat and a pub along the street. The initial intervention involved the young woman, stopped at the exit from the doorway whilst shouting and attempting to break free. Immediately afterwards, Mobile Squad officers raided the apartment, proceeding to arrest the other two.
