Camaiore, 63-year-old shoots wife and son following row
In the Versilia locality of Camaiore, in the province of Lucca, a 63-year-old man shot dead his 52-year-old wife and 24-year-old son with a firearm. Piero Moriconi was arrested and, during questioning by public prosecutor Elena Leone, reconstructed the circumstances of the double homicide.
According to what was reported by the defendant's lawyer, attorney Giacomo Fabbri, the man described the young man as a person with serious substance and alcohol dependency problems, difficult to manage and prone to threats. The argument that preceded the shooting is said to have arisen from a new request for money made by the young man.
The defendant also stated that he was forced to hide cash at home and reported that his wife intended to leave the marital home, leaving him alone with their son. Regarding the young man's sexual orientation, he expressed concern.
