Caserta, drug-dealing "delivery" gang dismantled: 7 arrests in Maddaloni and province
On 6 July, officers from the Mobile Squad of Caserta, with support from the Maddaloni Police Station, executed an order from the judge for preliminary investigations at the Naples Court of Justice issued at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. The measures resulted in the arrest of seven suspects: four were taken into custody, whilst three were placed under house arrest.
All are accused of the offence of criminal association for the purpose of trafficking in narcotic substances. According to investigations, two people from the province of Caserta, both with previous convictions for similar offences, ran the organisation. Five accomplices handled distribution.
The group supplied customers with cocaine and crack through two channels: home deliveries using the "delivery" method and sales from a flat in the public housing complex on the outskirts of Maddaloni.
The investigation made use of video surveillance systems and telephone intercepts. These activities made it possible to document hundreds of transactions, carried out at any time of day. Drug doses were seized and several buyers were reported to the administrative authority.
The measure is a precautionary measure during the preliminary investigation phase and may be challenged by those subject to it. The arrestees are considered innocent until a final conviction.
