Jawhar Kadir, the 19-year-old arrested for the murder of interpreter Pietro Roberto Guerrino in Milan, is an enthusiast of mixed martial arts (MMA). Born in Treviglio and living in Melzo, in the Milan hinterland, he had become involved in the world of combat disciplines.
Surveillance camera footage shows him leaving the victim's home, on Via Oxilia, wearing a pair of red shorts. It was precisely this detail, together with footage from cameras in the area, that allowed investigators to identify him.
Before his arrest, Kadir had been checked by the Carabinieri in Patti, in the province of Messina, whilst sleeping inside a car destined for demolition. He had asked for help from acquaintances, requesting money and clean clothes, and appeared intent on reaching a mountain location in the province of Bergamo.
The 19-year-old was stopped at Melzo railway station with several suitcases in his possession. Among his personal effects, the interpreter's iPad was found, which had been taken from the residence following the fatal assault.
