Attack at Ferrara school
According to rainews.it, an adult from the area attempted to strike a 15-year-old student in the toilets of the Ariosto secondary school in Ferrara with a large knife. The boy, in shock, defended himself and sustained minor injuries whilst the attacker fled, leaving the weapon behind. The school community was left in terror.
The 15-year-old told the carabinieri that he did not know the attacker and did not know who he was. Other students also did not recognise him. The officers identified the adult within hours, also thanks to the cooperation of his family members. At his home they found a sheath compatible with the knife recovered at the school and the clothing worn during the attack.
The attacker was arrested in near flagrante delicto for assault with aggravating circumstances and unlawful possession of an offensive weapon, and was remanded in custody at a healthcare facility pending the validation hearing. The 15-year-old was treated at the emergency room of Sant'Anna hospital and discharged. The investigation established that the victim and the attacker did not know each other. The motives for the assault remain to be clarified.
