Six years of violence: 34-year-old sentenced in final judgement remanded in custody in Monza
The Mobile Squad of the Monza and Brianza Police Headquarters executed an imprisonment order yesterday against a 34-year-old Italian citizen residing in Sesto San Giovanni. According to questure.poliziadistato.it: the man was sentenced in a final judgement to 2 years and 4 months' imprisonment for domestic abuse against his ex-wife.
The order was issued by the Criminal Execution Office of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Monza. The order was executed in the afternoon of yesterday at Monza Prison, where the sentenced man was already in detention for another matter.
From 2018 to 2024: a systematic regime of violence
The investigation reconstructed a picture of prolonged abuse: from 2018 until the beginning of 2024, the man had subjected the victim to repeated physical and psychological assaults, progressively worsening also due to his cocaine addiction. Among the established behaviour were physical assaults within the home, damage to the woman's furniture and mobile phone, as well as obsessive and possessive conduct linked to uncontrolled jealousy, which generated in the victim a persistent state of terror.
The investigative activity began following a complaint filed by the woman in March 2024 at the Complaints Office of Monza and Brianza Police Headquarters. The subsequent investigations by the Mobile Squad, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at Monza Court, made use of testimonies gathered from the victim's friends, work colleagues and acquaintances.
Electronic monitoring bracelet from April 2024
Already in April 2024, on the basis of the evidence gathered, the judicial authority had ordered an approach ban against the person against whom protective measures had been imposed with application of an electronic monitoring bracelet, a measure which had prevented the repetition of violent conduct.
The 34-year-old has numerous police records for crimes against property, in relation to narcotics offences and other serious crimes against the person. At the conclusion of formal procedures, the imprisonment order was notified to the person concerned: he must serve a sentence of 2 years and 4 months' imprisonment.
