During patrol operations in the Crotone area, police carried out two separate operations. In one, a 47-year-old man was taken into custody after breaching court-ordered restrictions. In the other, a suspect was removed from his residence with a prohibition on approaching family members.
Officers from the Mobile Units, during routine checks on individuals subject to restrictions on their liberty, discovered that the 47-year-old was not at the location where he was supposed to reside. The man had left without any authorisation, in breach of the order requiring him to remain at home. Located shortly afterwards, he was reported for escaping from house arrest. The judge determined that the situation warranted escalation, converting his house arrest into detention at the local prison. The detainee had already come under scrutiny for a brawl that occurred on the seafront, an incident which is still under investigation.
In a parallel operation, the Mobile Squad acted on an order from the preliminary inquiry judge at the local court. A man must now maintain distance from his mother and minor sister, as well as wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. He is accused of having repeatedly assaulted and harassed them. The case emerged following an alert raised by Social Services, who had flagged the vulnerable condition in which the two women were living. With the "Red Code" procedure activated, investigators gathered the testimonies and evidence necessary to convince the magistrate to impose the measure. From now on, the suspect will not be allowed to return to the residence or approach places frequented by the victims.
These actions fall within the security strategy designed by Police Chief Renato Panvino, with particular attention to the suppression of domestic violence and compliance with judicial decisions.
