Nineteen-year-old Tunisian arrested in Brescia: assault on officers and false identity
The State Police in Brescia have arrested a 19-year-old irregular Tunisian national who assaulted an officer and provided false particulars during a check on Via dei Mille.

Officers from the Services Unit of the Brescia Police Headquarters have arrested a 19-year-old Tunisian national, homeless and irregularly residing on national territory. As reported by questure.poliziadistato.it, the young man has numerous prior criminal convictions for crimes against property and persons, illegal possession of weapons, vandalism, violence and resistance to a public official.
The detention took place during routine territorial patrol activity aimed at combating episodes of widespread petty crime. Officers, passing through Via dei Mille, stopped a group of young people gathered together with suspicious behaviour.
When asked to produce documents, the 19-year-old stated he did not have any with him, providing his personal details only verbally. For this reason he was taken to the Police Headquarters offices for the necessary checks.
Inside the offices, with no apparent reason and in a highly agitated state, the young man ignored requests to remain calm and attempted to flee several times. The escalation culminated in a physical assault on one of the officers: the 19-year-old grabbed him by the arm, causing him to fall violently to the ground.
Once immobilised and after identification procedures were completed, checks in the Interior Ministry Database revealed that the details provided were false and that the subject, known under numerous aliases, was accustomed to committing crimes using violent methods. He had previously also been responsible for a bag-snatching theft in Viale della Stazione.
At the conclusion of the judicial police procedures, the young man was arrested for insult, violence and resistance to a public official, providing false particulars and illegal residence on national territory, and was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor.
The Questor of the Province of Brescia, Paolo Sartori, considering the seriousness of the facts and the prior criminal convictions of the subject, issued an order for his removal from national territory, as a precursor to subsequent expulsion.
"A violent and dangerous man has been prevented from causing harm and has been arrested", declared Questor Sartori. "This is also a case that highlights the delicacy and complexity of the situations that Police Forces are called upon to face on a daily basis. It is intolerable and unjustifiable that an individual, rather than respecting laws and institutions, engages in violent and aggressive conduct towards those appointed to safeguard them."
